Karen Kirkland Music | Composer - Performer - Teacher - Consultant 


Karen has been involved with the music industry for many years, not just as a teacher but also as a performer, composer, arranger, singer, songwriter. She has worked with a wide variety of musicians, ensembles and orchestras. Karen is a multi instrumentalist. She studied clarinet and piano at Cardiff University but she plays many other instruments. She has played professionally across all musical genres, jazz to classical. Karen has performed regularly on the Midland Club circuit with several popular, pop, rock, dance bands, playing piano, clarinet, saxophone and vocals. She is regularly commissioned to compose and perform customised songs at parties, weddings and other special occasions. "Let the children play" composed and performed by Karen, was featured in 2001 as part of the Alternative Song for Europe by Carlton TV. Karen enjoys being involved with music in her home county of Shropshire, playing regularly with Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass, J M Brass, Shropshire Music Service Pops Orchestra and Of One Accord Choir. She also crosses the border into Worcestershire where she plays with Bewdley Concert Band, Wyre Forest Big Band, The Film Orchestra based in Malvern and The Film Orchestra Concert Band based near Worcester. She has also performed with the Shropshire Sinfonia, Shrewsbury Symphony Orchestra, and The Orchestra of the Severn conducted by Bob Wysome.
